Stave Lake Campground Updates

We’ve been working on the development of a campground facility in the MCFC license area near Stave Lake. The campground will offer a unique way to experience the wilds of Kespu'kwitk (southwest NS) through walk-in, backcountry-style camping. By only offering walk-in access, our users will have the ability to enjoy the experience of backcountry camping within a 400m walk from their vehicles. The campground will feature 12 sites scattered throughout a mature mixed-wood forest, many of which front beautiful Lower Stave Lake, with one fully accessible site.

The MCFC has undergone a full review of potential ecological values through the Department’s IRM review process, a consultation with the Mi’kmaq through the Kwilmu’kw Maw-klusuaqn Negotiation Office (KMKNO), and several public consultations.

The Stave Lake Campground is set to open in Spring 2025!
